Coppell: 4 - Plano Senior: 1

The Coppell Cowboys wanted to finish off their season on a high note. Facing off against the Plano Wildcats on senior night the Cowboys looked forward to not making it a memorable one for the Plano seniors. With a score of 4-1, the Coppell Cowboys got the result they were looking for and made it a game to forget for Plano.

The game started with Coppell dominating the majority of the possession of the ball, with more time on the ball Coppell was able to create several goal-scoring opportunities within the first 20 minutes of the first half.

Nearing the 20-minute mark Coppell was yet again on the attack. With great build-up from the mids to the forwards, Vale was able to chip the ball behind the defenders to Nate who was making a run in behind. Nate was able to capitalize on this opportunity giving the Cowboys the lead.

Nate wasn’t content with only one goal he wanted more. A couple of minutes later, the Cowboys midfield was able to find Nate in a goal-scoring opportunity again. With the ball at his feet, 25 yards out, Nate decided to have a shot. With a powerful shot, Nate was able to increase his count to 2 goals and the score to 2-0 for the Cowboys.

Going into halftime Coppell had all the momentum and all of the possession of the ball. With an adjustment to a 4-back, the Cowboys came back to the second with the same intensity as they had in the first.

With increasing goal-scoring chances for Coppell, the third goal seemed ominous. On a play where Justice was able to control the ball right outside the box, he was also able to cross it into the box where Mo was. Mo was able to get a head on it, which was luckily able to fall straight to Nick's head. Nick only had to place the ball to either side of the goalie, the score became 3-0.

Completely dominating the game, the Cowboys were not done scoring just yet. A couple of minutes later the Cowboys would find themselves in a counterattack situation. With a 2 on 2, Srikar was able to make a great run into space and take a great touch on the run leading to a 1v1 to goal. Successfully beating his man and getting a shot off, he was able to expand the lead to 4-0.

A couple seconds later Plano would finally step up and start competing. Off of kick-off, Plano successfully carried the ball up the field. The Plano striker was able to get open right outside the middle of the box. He then was able to dribble around a few Coppell defenders and shoot the ball bottom left. Leaving the keeper no chance of saving it, Plano was able to at least score one goal.

After a dominating win at Plano, the Coppell Cowboys will look to carry this great momentum into their first playoff game next Tuesday.

Coppell: 2 - Flower Mound: 3

On a chilly Friday night, the Cowboys played their last district home game against the Flower Mound Jaguars. A win here would’ve put the Cowboys in contention for the first-place spot in the district, but unfortunately, the Cowboys suffered a 3-2 loss with the first-place team in the district.

The game got off to a very quick start, as Flower Mound would draw first blood early off of a corner kick. The corner would be whipped into the box, and the Flower Mound attacker beat the Cowboys' defense to the header and knocked the ball into the bottom corner of the net. However, the Cowboys would be quick to respond, as ten minutes later they would score the equalizing goal. Forward Sam Stone would shoot the ball from the edge of the box, but it would be blocked by the Flower Mound defender. Just as when the ball was about to trickle to the goalkeeper, forward Caeden Naef was able to dribble past the keeper and put it in the net.

The first half would continue to remain competitive, as both teams tried to break the deadlock. Unfortunately, the Jaguars would score again off of a cross. The Flower Mound attacker was positioned in front of the ball but was inexplicably able to volley it into the bottom corner, putting Flower Mound up 2-1. But just when they would fall again, the Cowboys would come back and equalize. After some quick one-touch passing down the right flank, forward Gareth Meza would cross the ball into the box. Out of all the attackers and midfielders joining the attack, it would be right-back Luis Mendez who won the header and scored the goal, capping off a 4-goal first half.

The second half would bear a much more physical game. Flower Mound would again score very early in the first half. After a series of lucky bounces, the ball would go over the Cowboy's defense to a wide-open Flower Mound attacker. One-on-one against the keeper, he was able to place the ball coolly into the goal, putting the Jaguars up 3-2. Playing against the wind in the second half, the Cowboys found it very difficult to connect passes and string attacks. The Cowboys would fight hard but were ultimately unable to equalize again. ]

This loss will hurt the Cowboys, as their chances of winning 1st in the district are over. However, they must move on as playoffs loom closer and closer and have the chance to potentially move up to second if they can beat Plano Senior in their final district game.

Coppell: 2 - Plano East: 2

The Coppell Cowboys, having secured playoffs, were looking to continue being second in the district. But to do so they had to beat the Hebron Hawks. On a chilly Tuesday evening, the Cowboys went head to head against the Hebron Hawks, in a thrilling match, from start to finish.

The game started very evenly both teams were generating opportunities and maintaining a good amount of ball possession. But the Cowboys would pull away with a goal within the first ten minutes of the game. Sam Jun was able to successfully take on a Hebron defender and laid it off to J McGill in the box, where he was able to get a shot off and bury it into the net.

Hebron wouldn't stay quiet though, minutes later Hebron would clap back at Coppell by tying the game up. The Hawks winger was able to regain possession of the ball in Coppell’s half and also was able to take it down the line. Once near the baseline, the Hebron winger was able to whip it back into the box where another Hebron attacker was able to strike it and put it in the back of the net.

This first goal for Hebron gave them all of the momentum they needed to have the edge on Coppell. Hebron would proceed to go ahead in the scoreboard. Towards the end of the half, Hebron had a corner kick. When whipped into the box the ball was deflected and continued to bounce inside the box. Coppell defenders tried to clear the ball, but they weren't successful, allowing the Hebron attacker to tap the ball into the back of the net.

Going into halftime the Coppell Cowboys seemed calm and composed even though they were down in the score. Once the second half started Coppell maintained their composure and this proved crucial to their final goal. Even though Hebron dominated most of the half, Coppell was able to score a goal in the dying embers of the game. Off a long throw from Brodie Scott, Lica Grosoli was able to put it in the back of the net with a brilliant header.

Even though the Cowboys were looking for a win they were grateful to tie the game. Coppell is looking to secure the top 2 and maybe win the district, as they face the number one team in the district, Flower Mound on Friday evening.
